Designing for the Hesitant For all those not confident enough to try their hand at designing. Starting with a favourite picture, postcard or photo, you will design your own block for a very personal piece of work that can be turned into a wall hanging, throw, cushion or used as starting point for a larger item, such as a bed quilt. Techniques for making up the block, colour choices and fabrics will be discussed, as well as finishing and quilting. Drawing skills are not necessary – just a desire to ‘have a go’ and be surprised by the results! 1 Day only - Mainly designing but methods of construction will be discussed. 2 Days - After designing there will be time to start making up the piece of work. Not suitable for beginners. |
Back to Basics This course is ideal for absolute beginners or post beginners wishing to improve their techniques. Most basic rotary cutting and quick piecing techniques by machine will be covered giving beginners a good grounding for all future patchwork projects. Make a collection of samples to put in a file, together with the instruction sheets, for future reference. If time allows we will use your newly acquired knowledge to complete a cushion cover. The use of colour, value, appropriate fabrics and waddings will be discussed and hand and machine quilting touched upon to complete the piece. Enjoy a day which will be the start of an absorbing hobby. A good grounding for future projects and a great confidence booster. Popular with beginners or those wishing to refine their techniques. |
